Bodhi-Sake is a former Buddhist temple. Actually, it still seems to be part Buddhist temple. The restaurant is a group of traditional courtyard houses across from the north gate of Taoren Ting Park near Qianmen. There are large tables in the courtyards for outdoor dining in the warmer months. The indoor dining rooms have a spruced-up courtyard house décor with lots of bright, new-age Buddhist decorations. In the back, you’ll find a room with Buddhist statues, incense burning, prayer, the whole deal. They serve Buddhist vegetarian fare and the food is quite good, but the setting is the real attraction. |
